INGREDIENTS REQUIRED 

3 cups all Purpose Flour and extra for dusting

2 sticks of Salted Butter at room temperature

1 can media crema table cream or 1 cup of liquid 

3 Granny Smith apples

Trubinado Cane Sugar

1/4 tsp Lemon zest and tsp of juice

3 Fuji or any sweet apples of your choice 

1/2 cup plus 1.5 tbsp white Sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tsp Ground Cinnamon 

Pinch of Salt

METHOD OF PREPARATION 

1. First peel the apples with the help of peeler and make sure apples are nice and firm.


2. Now cut it's both ends and then sides and cut them a quarter inch thick, For Better Understanding Follow IMAGE AND VIDEO TUTORIAL SECTION BELOW.


3. Now add the sliced apples in the bowl (dutch oven) and then add white sugar, quarter cup of brown sugar, 1 tsp of Cinnamon and pinch of salt. 


4. Add some grated lemon zest and mix it well properly. 


5. Cover this and cook it for 10 to 15 minutes on medium heat and make sure that you are stirring while it cooks.


6. After a couple minutes give it a quick mix so just cover it and repeat the process until our apples are almost soft.


7. At 12 minutes my apples are done, you don't want to overcook your apples because they are still going to cook in the oven.


8. Transfer it on the baking sheet and wait for them to cool down, so while we wait for our apples to finish cooling down, we are going to begin to work on our dough.


9. Take large bowl and add 3 cups of flour, 1.5 tbsp of sugar, mix it and add 2 sticks of butter and break it down with your hands while mixing with your clean hands.


10. Now add 1 can of media crema, if you don't find it in the market then you can also add 1 cup of Evaporated milk or regular milk or water,

While pouring this crema make sure mixing it properly until your dough nicely mixed together. Just knead your dough for 3 minutes.


11. Cut this dough into two balls and cover it with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator just while we wait for our apples to finish cooling down.


12. After 30 minutes of apples cooling down and then add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.


13. Now strain this apples from our apple juice and then we get our apple filling, while the apples strain, we are going to work on our dough.


14. Preheat the oven at 400°C and then dust the little bit of flour on the clean coutertop and then take one dough ball, remove the plastic wrap from it.


15. Then roll the dough with the rolling pin and just want your dough to be even and the thickness of the empanada is going to depend on how thick you roll out dough,

16. Take round cookie cutter as you can see the image below the picture tutorial section, it also depends on how big you make your empanadas,

And also how many empanadas you are going to get out of the dough, so for me dough right here, i will get about six large empanadas.


17. After getting round shape then add apple filling that we have prepared in 13th step and grab it's other side and close it like a taco and press it down as you press pull it outward,

Just like that it could be like a pie crust and then we are going to go back to the top and fold it and press it and place this on a baking sheet which are place on the baking tray, Check Image and video section below for better understanding. 


18. Repeat the process to the rest of our empanada dough.


19. Make three slits with knife on each sides of the empanada and then glaze the strained apple juice on the empanada and then add some of the sugar on it.


20. Bake the empanada at 400°C for 20 minutes.
