INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

2 1/2 cups plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp bicarbonate soda 1 tsp salt
2 tbsp cocoa powder
50 ml red food colouring
120g butter
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp white vinegar Pinch of salt
Cream cheese frosting
450g cream cheese
120g butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
2-2 1/2 cups icing sugar

METHOD OR PREPARATION

1. In a bowl add 120g room temperature butter or soften butter, 1 1/2 cup castor sugar and blend it nicely. Now the butter is nicely creamed into the sugar


2. Now Add 2 eggs and mix it well properly so that it completely mixed with mixture , i am using hand blender or mixer, add 50 ml red food colouring , 2 tbsp cocoa powder and 1 tsp vanilla extract and blend it properly. Now it is looking very attractive.







3. In 2 1/2 cups plain flour add 1 tsp baking powder, pinch of salt and sieve it partly into the bowl as shown in the picture.



4. Add 1 cup buttermilk and blend it nicely so that there are no lumps in it. And bit more flour mixture and add another lot of buttermilk and stirring it properly for proper mixing.







5. Add 1 tsp bicarbonate soda and 1 tsp white vinegar, give it a mix and then add it into the mixture.





6. Take a tin & greased it all with butter and Pour the batter into the tin and cook it around for 30-40 minutes in a preheated oven at 180 degrees.






7. For garnish
Take some rose petals, brush it with egg white, dip it in castor sugar and allow it dry for 2 hours. It is looking great as you see in the below picture.







8. For cream cheese frosting,
In a bowl add 120 gms butter, 2 1/2 cups icing sugar, 450 gms cream cheese stir vigorously or whisk it with a blender it would be easier for mixing properly.
Now Add 1 tsp vanilla extract and mix it nicely.









9. Now Cut the cake into two halves with the serrated knife , add the cream cheese frosting on the base part and spread it. In this step cake should be completely cold or after cake is made you can place this cake in the fridge for some time because we have got butter on it so it wouldn't melt.
Place the other half of the cake onto it and spread the frosting on the top.








10. Garnish with the sugar coated rose petals.The delicious Red Velvet Cake is ready to be served on the romantic day of valentine.
